1. A thin film phosphor for an electroluminescent device, said phosphor being a barium thioaluminate containing a rare earth metal activator and also containing yttrium as a partial substitute for a portion of aluminum of said thioaluminate, and wherein said phosphor contains said rare earth metal in an amount in the range of about 1–10 atomic percent of barium and yttrium is present in an amount in the range of about 0.1–20 atomic percent of aluminum. |
