1. An apparatus for curtain coating, particularly for high-speed curtain coating of a continuous paper web substrate, comprising a hopper means providing one or more liquid coating materials in the form of a free-falling curtain impinging the substrate at a dynamic wetting line and edge guide elements on both sides of said curtain are arranged supplying a wetting or auxiliary liquid and wherein each element has a length along its longitudinal axis extending in a direction of flow of said curtain from said hopper means and at, least one contact area directed towards and in contact with said curtain, said contact area having a multiplicity of grooves and ribs extending along the length of said edge guide elements thereby forming a ribbed contact area. |
