1. A liquid crystal display device comprising:
a plurality of G gate lines;
a plurality of D data lines that are perpendicular to and that cross the gate lines;
a gate electrode that extends from a pth gate line toward a p+1th gate line, wherein p is greater than 1 and p+1 is less than or equal to G; and
a thin film transistor comprised of a semiconductor layer over the gate electrode, a source electrode that extends over the
semiconductor layer from a data line, and a drain electrode, wherein the source electrode has an inverted “U” shape, and an
inverted “U” shaped conductive channel corresponding to the inverted “U” shaped source electrode is formed in the semiconductor
layer when a gate signal is applied to the gate electrode; and
a shielding plate over an upper portion of the thin film transistor, wherein light at an incident direction of the inverted
“U” shaped conductive channel and source electrode is blocked.
