1. An isolated antibody which binds specifically to a human protein having activin-like kinase activity, wherein said human protein is encoded by a nucleic acid molecule having a nucleotide sequence, the complementary sequence of which hybridizes to the nucleotide sequence set forth in SEQ ID NO: 9, at 5×SSC, 0.1% SDS, followed by two 15 minute washes in 0.5×SSC, 0.1% SDS, at 55° C.
