1. A shaft for supporting components of, and for facilitating the shifting of a speed ratio of, a continuously variable transmission
(CVT), the shaft comprising:
a first end and a second end, wherein each of the first and second ends has threads;
a central bore;
a slot placed between the first and second ends;
a first surface adapted to receive, and prevent rotational movement of, a first stationary support of the CVT;
a second surface adapted to receive, and prevent rotational movement of, a second stationary support of the CVT; and
wherein the slot is located in a portion of the shaft that is between the first and second surfaces.
