A method of treating myocardial contractile dysfunction after myocardial infarction in a subject, comprising administering to the subject an effective amount of an inhibitor of Calmodulin Kinase II (CaMKII), whereby the administration of the inhibitor treats post-myocardial infarction myocardial contractile dysfunction in the subject.
