1. A method for treating a wound, comprising:
a) providing
i) an MMP prodomain peptide, wherein said peptide has an amino acid sequence selected from the group consisting of Ac-PRCGVPDVAQF-NH2, Ac-PRCGVPDVAEY-NH2, Ac-PRCGNPDVANY-NH2, and Ac-PRCGVPDLGRFQ-NH2: and
ii) a subject having at least one wound; and
b) administering said peptide to said subject under conditions such that the healing of said wound is promoted.
