1. A method of correcting a spinal deformity of a subject comprising:
during a surgical spinal procedure and with a processing system:
determining a value of a first anatomical characteristic of the subject positioned in a first position for a spinal procedure;
measuring a first value of a second anatomical characteristic of the subject in the first position;
determining a target value for the second anatomical characteristic based on the value of the first anatomical characteristic;
while the subject is being re-positioned from the first position to a second position or after the subject is repositioned from the first position to the second position:
measuring a second value of the second anatomical characteristic; and
automatically providing by the processing system a visual indication of whether the second value of the second anatomical characteristic has reached or exceeded the target value for the second anatomical characteristic to correct the spinal deformity of the subject.
