1. A process for purifying a gas stream comprising:
contacting the gas stream, comprising at least one contaminant, with a metal organic framework (MOF) composition thereby removing at least a portion of at least one contaminant in the gas stream;
wherein the MOF comprises corner metal units where the metal is selected from Zr, V, Al, Fe, Cr, Ti, Hf, Cu, Zn, Ni, and Ce and mixtures thereof and linker molecules selected from at least one organic ligand containing an amino group or a combination of at least one organic ligand containing an amino group and at least one organic ligand that does not contain an amino group, the MOF characterized in that it has an average crystal size at least about 1 μm and in which at least 55% of the amino groups are activated amino groups of the form —NH2.
