1. A method for distributing energy, the method comprising:
forecasting, by a microgrid in a hierarchical family tree structure within a fractal macrogrid, power needs of the microgrid using data associated with the microgrid and the fractal macrogrid, wherein the data includes historical data relating prior power usage including other microgrids in the hierarchical family tree structure;
determining power generation capabilities of the microgrid;
receiving a request for power from a second microgrid within the hierarchical family tree of the microgrid and part of the fractal macrogrid;
if the power generation capabilities are greater than the forecasted power needs, selectively providing excess power to the second microgrid; and
if the power generation capabilities are less than or equal to the forecasted power needs, selectively storing the excess power generated by the microgrid in an energy storing device.
