1. A system for alleviating or reducing low back pain in a patient, the system comprising:
a first electrode and a second electrode configured to be implanted bilaterally on either side of a lumbar spine within a back of a patient experiencing low back pain to deliver electrical stimulation to tissue associated with one or more spine stabilizing muscles associated with local segmental control of the lumbar spine within the back of the patient;
a pulse generator configured to be in electrical communication with the first and second electrodes, the pulse generator configured to be programmed to deliver the electrical stimulation to the tissue associated with the one or more spine stabilizing muscles via the first electrode to cause contraction of the one or more spine stabilizing muscles to improve neuromuscular control system performance of the one or more spine stabilizing muscles and via the second electrode to reduce pain, thereby alleviating or reducing the patient's low back pain; and
a first electrode lead and a second electrode lead configured to electrically couple the pulse generator to the first electrode and second electrode, respectively.
