1. A method for preparing compounds of formula (I)

OG Complex Work Unit Chemistry
and/or compounds of formula (II),

OG Complex Work Unit Chemistry
in which R1 is benzyl,
comprising at least the step of reacting a compound of formula (III),

OG Complex Work Unit Chemistry
in which X is Cl or Br,
with a compound of formula (IV),
R1OH  (IV)
in which the radical R1 has the definition specified for formula (I),
in the presence of a base and a solvent,
wherein the base is selected from alkali metal hydroxides, alkaline earth metal hydroxides, alkali metal carbonates, alkaline earth metal carbonates, compounds of formula (V)
R1OM  (V)
in which the radical R1 has the definition specified for formula (I) and M is an alkali metal, or mixtures thereof,
wherein the solvent is selected from toluene, o-, m-, p-xylene, ethylbenzene, ethoxybenzene, compounds of formula (IV), water, or mixtures thereof, and
wherein the reaction of the compound of formula (III) with the compound of formula (IV) is carried out in the absence of a catalyst selected from transition metal compounds.
