1. A method comprising:
configuring an adapter in firmware of a host device to perform conversion of a plurality of data packets between a first network protocol version and a second network protocol version;
wherein the host device hosts an application to and from which the plurality of data packets are transmitted; and
wherein the configuring is performed using a basic input output system of the host device and comprises identifying a port of the host device on which the conversion of the plurality of data packets is to be performed;
receiving a data packet of the plurality of data packets configured in accordance with the first network protocol version; and
converting, via the adapter, a header portion of the data packet to be configured in accordance with the second network protocol version;
wherein the converting comprises:
identifying a source network protocol address for a source of the data packet in the header portion in accordance with the second network protocol version;
identifying a destination network protocol address for a destination of the data packet in the header portion in accordance with the second network protocol version; and
validating at least one of the source network protocol address and the destination network protocol address, wherein the validating comprises:
executing a ping test for at least one of the source network protocol address and the destination network protocol address; and
executing one or more lookup operations to identify a status of one or more network device roles and components corresponding to at least one of the source network protocol address and the destination network protocol address, and displaying the status of the one or more network device roles and components;
wherein the steps of the method are executed by a processing device operatively coupled to a memory.
